We are proud to announce our collaboration with Les Mills, who are on a mission to create a fitter planet. This doesn’t mean making people work out. It means helping people fall in love with fitness so that they want to work out. Keep an eye out for further information on this collaboration!

Did you know that a healthy diet for people is also healthy for the planet? Eating healthy food is almost always also best for the environment, according to research. Researchers found that the environmental impact of different foods varies hugely. Their findings showed that meat and other animal products are responsible for more than half of food-related greenhouse gas emissions, despite providing only a fifth of the calories we eat and drink. Of all the products analysed in the study, unprocessed red meat such as beef and lamb, were found to have by far the most damaging effect on the environment. The "Climate Change Food Calculator" is a fantastic way to investigate with your students, how their food choices affect the environment. You could use a meal plan including red meat for breakfast, lunch and dinner e.g. bacon, ham and beef burger; then ask students to suggest changes for this meal plan to make it healthier for both people and the planet. Or you could turn this activity into a project and get your students to develop a table that compares greenhouse gas emissions for 5-10 foods using the food calculator (don't forget about morning snacks and afternoon tea).
